Capturing the Spirit of Porto’s Iconic Tram Line 22

During a recent trip to Porto, Portugal, I was captivated by the city’s charming tram system. As I wandered the historic streets, I couldn’t help but be drawn to the vibrant red and yellow tram cars gliding along the tracks. One tram line in particular, the iconic Line 22, caught my eye.

I decided to document this quintessential Porto scene by snapping a photo of the tram as it approached. The moment I captured was simply delightful – the tram’s bright colors contrasted beautifully against the ornate Baroque architecture in the background. Passengers peered out the windows, taking in the sights as the tram made its way along the route.

Inspired by the photo, I knew I wanted to recreate the scene through a drawing. I first sketched the outline in pencil, carefully capturing the intricate details of the tram and the historic building. Then, using fine-tipped pens, I traced over the pencil lines to bring the drawing to life.

The final touch was adding color with alcohol-based markers. I chose a vibrant palette to match the lively energy of the tram and its surroundings. As I worked, I couldn’t help but chuckle, remembering the amusing story behind the photo.

You see, as I was lining up the perfect shot, a gust of wind suddenly blew my hat right off my head! I watched in horror as it tumbled down the street, nearly causing a collision with the oncoming tram. Luckily, a kind bystander quickly retrieved my wayward hat before any mishaps occurred. It was a humorous moment that will forever be etched in my memory, and one that I’m now able to immortalize through this delightful drawing.
